Sculpteo is another great 3D printing service and a competitor of popular Shapeways. Both Sculpteo and Shapeways have excellent features, but there is a huge technological difference between them: while Shapeways is Dutch, Sculpteo is purely French!
Sculpteo’s has very elegant interface. Their 3D viewer is just superb. Actually it is one of the main reasons I like Sculpteo. To tell you the truth, I started this post just to test their viewer embedding capabilities.
Since I live in France for several months in a year, I love to go to Paris museums. This is a scan of Bellini’s bust of The Cardinal Richelieu I made in the Musee du Louvre. Louvre is great since it is permitted to take photos there (without a flash, of course). I took 38 photos and processed them at my3dscanner.com Here is the result (you can play with the model in the browser on this page)
You can see that the viewer is completely browser-independent and employs both Java and Flash which is a terrific solution. Navigation is very easy as well as customization. For example, I can change background color and send you to my Sculpteo account so you can order a model (before you click and are taken away: don't forget to return to www.my3dscanner.com!)
Let me tell you this: Sculpteo is so technologically advanced, it's incredible! And between us: I just love Sulpteo!
