My3DScanner is a fully-automated, end-to-end online 3D scanning system that takes digital photographs (or videos) as input and produces 3D computer models (dense color 3D point clouds and meshed polygonal models) as output without user intervention. Input pictures do not require calibration and any sort of pre-processing by a user.
It is straightforward process: take many photographs or a short video of an object, structure or a scene with any digital camera or mobile phone, upload them to our server. In a relatively short while a dense color 3D point cloud and a 3D mesh are ready for you to download. The output model is not anaglyph; it is true and accurate 3D representation of reality (if your source photos are good).
The process in a way is a 3D photographing. It just needs more 2D overlapping photos taken from different viewpoints around an object. My3DScanner will automatically reconstruct an object or a scene in 3D. How do we do it?
Our engine is based on the recent advances in the computer vision technologies. My3DScanner is a classical structure-from-motion system which has key points finding and matching mechanism, a Bundler module which produces a 3D reconstruction of camera positions and sparse scene geometry, so a visual hull of an object is created. Than PMVS module takes the rest of the information from source photos and uses it to fill in the space between sparse points and create dense point clouds. This module adds flesh to the bones so to say. The last stage is point cloud processing, mesh generation and optimization.
It is a simple workflow for a user:
-
Collect 3D visual information of any real object with your digital camera or mobile phone (take many overlapping photographs around an object at a crease angle), register at this site and upload photos to our server.
-
My3dScanner processes your digital photos into a 3D point cloud scan which you can preview and download. For free.
-
My3dScanner will generate mesh from a point cloud. You can preview and download it as well. Free of charge.
That’s it! No need to download software, buy glasses: everything is online! Just take good quality photos and create great 3D replicas of the real world!
